You reach for a smile
But there is no one there
To reflect it.
You are utterly and absolutely
Alone.

Will there never be a hand
To grasp at yours within the mirror?
Will there never be an arm
To hold you tight amidst the terror?

The oddly methodical
Frenzy builds;
The terror of the moon is about you.
But it closes in
Only to stop and pause
And wonder why an arm lies empty.

Grasping hands flinch
In the pale, cool light of the moon.
And empty arms encompass it;
Blinding you for a moment.

But you will see
As you hold up your mirror
That it is only the empty sun
Which you have found.

You are alone.
