This
is it - this is the product that gets me out of the kitchen in less than 15
minutes.
I bought the small ($25) George Foreman Grill for my Mother a couple of years
ago for Christmas. I tried it out before she took it home and just loved
it. So I went out and bought the family size ($60) for me and
hubby. I used it for a couple of months, and then went out and
bought the JUMBO size ($100). can't tell you what a great product this is,
I use it every day. It's the greatest thing that has happened to me since
I discovered Cuisinart, 20 years ago. If you are thinking of buying
one, even if you live alone, spend the extra bucks and buy the JUMBO - it's
worth it because you can cook your whole meal at once.
People think that it's only for grilling meat. WRONG - it is so
versatile. So read on, and I'll give you some great tips for Fat Free
Meals.
George Foreman and Pam Cooking Sprays were
made for each other. The trick is to spray the FOOD, not the grill. For
great fried chicken, take a chicken breast, flatten it with a cleaver until
it is of uniform size, salt, pepper, and flour lightly, then spray both sides of
the meat with Pam - grill on George until it browns (about 5-7 minutes) and you
have faux fried chicken. This recipe also works great with pork chops. 3
oz. breast (including 2 TBS. flour) is 4 POINTS
Veggies on George Foreman are just wonderful. Slices of summer squash or
zucchini, onions, and green peppers taste great sprayed with Garlic or Lemon Pam
and cooked on the grill. If
you are a sauteed mushroom fan - fill the grill with sliced mushrooms, sprayed
with butter or garlic Pam - they taste amazingly like those cooked in butter. All
the above veggies, sprayed with Pam are 0 POINTS I
really like fried green tomatoes in the summer - I take thick slices of them,
dip them in a mixture of 1 TBS. cornmeal, and 1 TBS. flour - spray both sides of
the tomatoes with Pam and grill for 5 minutes. The
only points come from the cornmeal and flour - 1 POINT at most
Need an easy dessert - this makes great grilled fruit. Put unpeeled peach halves
on it, grill until soft, and then sprinkle immediately with a mixture of ground
cinnamon and Equal. Top with Lite Cool Whip. You can also do this
with nectarines, apple slices, or pineapple. 1
POINT for a whole piece of fruit Including 2 TBS. Cool Whip
I make great pattie melts using diet bread and Boca Burgers. I grill
onions alongside the Boca Burgers (Boca Burgers are frozen soy, veggie burgers, only 1
point). After the onions and the Boca Burger are grilled, I place on diet
bread with a slice of Kraft Fat Free Cheese, spray both sides of the bread with
Pam and grill until cheese melts. Use
your imagination for grilled turkey, chicken, tuna melts - all can be done
quickly on George. The trick is spraying the bread with the Pam to give it
a crunch. 2.5 POINTS
for the Grilled Boca Cheeseburger I'm an Oscar Meyer Fat Free Bologna addict. It's my old standby for a
quick, low points meal. Sometimes I grill two slices of it (leave them
both stacked together) on George Foreman, and then eat it on diet bread, with
red onion slices, spicy mustard and tomatoes. I top it off with 15 Fat
Free Sour Cream Pringles and I've had a whole meal for only 3
points. If
I'm running out of points for the day, I will sometimes just grill a couple of
slices of this bologna for dinner, and eat with 0 point veggies. 2
points for Grilled Bologna Sandwich My Mother even grills her morning toast on George. I fix frozen burgers
for hubby on it - just put frozen hamburger patties right on the grill - no need
to thaw - and then put frozen french fries by the side of the burger and his
meal is finished in less than 10 minutes. You can put frozen chicken, fish
(breaded or plain), or frozen shrimp directly on the grill to cook, also.
OH,
THE MOST IMPORTANT THING - CLEANUP - EASY, EASY, EASY - the trick is to clean it
while it's warm. Just wipe it with a damp paper towel - the grill is
self-contained, so it won't spatter on your counters, either.
