The Adults

Mystery is also known as Tracy but has changed her name, which is quite common for alters to do. She is 34 years old, the same age as the body. She is also one of the main hosts who deal with the realities of every given week.

Raina is 30 and another host. She has her own last name and always has had her own last name. We don't know why. It just is. It's one of those facts that therapists cannot explain even to us and we can't explain it to others or even ourselves. Raina is our resident computer wizard and very upper class. She is polite to an extent that will drive people crazy and yet she is not a people person. Don't get her wrong though because if you manage to piss her off, she will let you know and she does hold a grudge. She has no use for fools and hates dogs but loves cats.

Montana is 32 and one of our protectors. Our main protector in fact. She is not a morning person. She does not like to wake up. She is not a nap person either. Again, do not try to wake her up. Montana is the one who will turn the alarm clock off when we set it to go off. She will wake up and just turn if off without waiting for it to go off by itself. She doesn't believe in the snooze button. Whoever tries to wake Montana up while she is sleeping is taking their life into their own hands. She is very logical, which will drive anyone crazy when trying to start an arguement with her. She deals with facts and figures, no emotion. (Yet she has a soft spot for all of the littles in our system!) She is the first one out when there is a confrontation to be handled and the rest of us are afraid. She will deal with the idiots that we come across and believe me, she lets them know they are idiots while she is dealing with them. Montana hates cats, but AsiaLynne, one of our cats, always sensing when Montana is out and will come and sit in her lap. Montana acts like it drives her nuts, but we are pretty sure that she loves it. Montana is very much the dog person in this system. Especially big dogs. We are thankful to have a protector like Montana. She has grown over the years in learning how to handle her anger and outrage against others.

Swan who is 25, Lisa who is 26, Arden who is 24 and one of our few male adult alters, Nadine who is 37 and older than the body. Other include RayAnne, Raylene, Charly, Charlise, Raylise (sister to Raylene). There are many other that do not wish to be named.

Althea, Athena, Zacharia, Nobody, Clock, The Enforcer, Nataline, Weaver and Soldier will also be added, they have no known age. They seem timeless yet they are adults and the only one who is really old seems to be Zacharia in looks.

ALTER'S BILL OF RIGHTS

We used the following in my system and if as many of your inners sign it, the better it is. Aim to make a working team in system,

The BILL OF RIGHTS

This written document should cover the basics such as trust, rights, responsibilities, consequences and any by laws, the members agree are necessary to ensure that no one's rights are abused or violated, and should be signed by each person.

The more alters feel that they have a say in what happens in their community, the more empowered they will become, and the more they will want to work with the group and on their individual issues.

a sample of an alter's bill of rights might be something like this:

Firstly: we, the members of (hosts name) inner family, in order to establish a co-operative, healthy, working relationship, adopt these rules and regulations as our official agreement concerning the rights and responsibilities to be afforded each member, and honoured by all.

Each Inner person must take responsibility for his/her own actions and issues.

2) At no time will physically aggressive behaviour towards another family member be tolerated unless it is clearly an act of self-defence or protection.

3) alters agree that the concern for the safety of the body must always be considered before the desires or the needs of the individual.

4) Alters are responsible to report to a main helper, as Alice with me, any behaviours in themselves, or other alters, that may be interpreted as potentially dangerous to the preservation of the whole, as soon as they become aware of the, the main helper are there to help, not judge, but to listen.

5) Alters have a right to have their grievances heard and addressed in a fair and timely fashion.

6) violent, dangerously out of control, suicidal, or homicidal alters, will be placed in a safe, confined space until they are able to regain composure and make amends if they have insulted or harmed any one.

7) Alters wilfully disrespecting the rights of anyone (such as bullying or malicious manipulation to undermine the inner stability, will be subject to disciplinary action.

8) any person(s) who willing, and repeatedly, conspired to destroy other Alters, or participate in cult activities or endanger the safety of `the system' such as indiscriminate unsafe sex etc. or break the law, while refusing to adhere to the consequences determined appropriate by the main helper will be subject to permanent confinement or rendered inactive.

9) Each inner person has a right to formulate and maintain loving relationships with each other (who are in agree ment) and will respect `couples' special friendships, family roles, and pets within the system.

12) Inner persons have a right to personal property and private living quarters (area) to decorate and use as they see fit with in the body. Living quarters and personal items are not to be invaded or taken by others, unless permission, and communal property is to be shared.

This is only a rough guild, in outer families, we have to abide by rules, to keep some sort of control and peace and love with in our families, this needs to be applied with in side the system too.

If the inners are working with the same aims and in a team this can only mean more safety and healing for the body, Some systems agree that a Bill of rights is not needed that is fine too, this is an idea which helped me and lots of others.
