Hello child.

I know you don't know me.

     But I know you.

I know it has been years.

     But I wanted to be near you.                                 

I know I have always loved you,

     But only touched you for a short time.

I know that I have always been proud of you

     But not able to show it at the time.

Mom and Dad parted, 

You were untouchable to me

     I cried tears to fill a sea

I was not good enough for you.

     I was such a fool.

I thought when you were older

     Contact would be in order

There would be the time then

     But life has so many bends.

Our contact was lost,

     Grandparent/ Grandchild was the cost.         

I lost my years with you

     Like a speeding bullet they flew

I missed out on memories to share

     The ones I have are rare

If I could only turn back time

     If only I could hit rewind

If our lives had been other

    Then I would have been ... "Grandmother".
