My Baby, My Child, My Son

When you were a new life within me
So tiny that God could only see
My heart knew that you were there.
My soul flew as high as it could dare.
And I would think of what you'd grow to be,
But, healthy was all that mattered to me.
You are my baby, my child, my son,
You are my life until it's done.

And then came your birthing day,
You came perfect in every way.
My heart was bursting with joy,
That God would trust me with this baby boy.
I will teach , protect and guide him,
I will nurture and love him.

It seems that it was only yesterday,
That we celebrated your tenth birthday.
The years go by so fast,
And suddenly the present is the past.
The child has grown into a man,
No longer do I need to hold his hand.

The man you've grown to be,
Gives only the greatest pride to me.
And when I lay my head to final rest,
I'll know I've done my very best
Because you are a child of my heart,
And from that you can never part.
You are my baby, my child, my son,
You are my life until it's done.
