Descendants of Charles Ferber

Generation No. 1

CHARLES FERBER was born Abt. 1804 in Saxony, Germany. He married CROSQUINA ??.

According to this census, #176, Chas Ferber, must be the grandfather of Minnie.

#174, Henry Ferber, could be a brother to Minnie's father. #173, C.P. Ferber, is most likely the brother of Minnie's father.

Child of CHARLES FERBER and CROSQUINA ?? is:

i. HERMAN FERBER, b. 1831, Saxony, Germany.

Generation No. 2

HERMAN2 FERBER (CHARLES) was born 1831 in Saxony, Germany. He married AMELIA ??.

The Ferber's evidently homesteaded in Nebraska fairly early. They are in the 1860 Nebraska census while it was still a territory, and then again in the 1870 census with it as a state.

The 1870 one lists them as:

Herman Ferber, Farmer, age 39 b. in Saxony (Germany)
Amelia, keeping house, age 25 , b. in Mo. (haven't found out her maiden name)
Willie, age 4, b. in Iowa
Edward, age 3, b. in Neb.
MINNIE, age 1/12 (July) b. in Neb. (when under 1 yr., they listed the month)
Charles, age 66, b. in Saxony, Germany

Sayer, Antone, farmer, age 75, b. in Germany

Charles could be Herman's father living with them, and the last one (name is not too clear) is her father living with them.

They were in the northeast corner of Nebraska; Cedar county, or city one. There is some writing on the Ferber family in the history of that county, although I do not have a copy, and don't know if these were listed directly or not.

Children of HERMAN FERBER and AMELIA ?? are:

i. WILLIE FERBER, b. 1866, Iowa.

ii. EDWARD FERBER, b. 1867, Nebraska.

iii.MINNIE H. FERBER, b. 1869, Nebraska; d. Aft. 1908; m. JAMES A. PHILLIPS, December 12, 1888, Ringgold County, Iowa.

Marriage Notes for MINNIE FERBER and JAMES PHILLIPS:

Ringgold County, Iowa Marriage Records, 1855-1900 James A. Phillip (no s) married Minnie H(or R) Ferber, 12 Dep 1888, bk B, pg 405

Minnie lived to be in her 80's and died somewhere around Witchata Falls, Texas. James died around Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  They were separated or divorced.
