B-17E Flying Fortress
The B-17E was a long range bomber which was famous for dropping a large payload of bombs, receiving great amounts of damage, and bringing the ten person crew back to safety. The "Flying Fortress" had a Norden bombsight which was very effective in sighting the target. Two out of every five bombs dropped by the United States were dropped by B-17's.
