About this siteThis site is an attempt to provide some information about the violent assasination of India's great freedom fighter, Mahatma Gandhi, who believed in non-voilence throughout his life. The shocking fact is that the assasins were not headstrong fundamentalists but were highly educated intellectuals who loved their motherland as much, if not more, as Gandhiji. Then why did they do so ? There are two sides to every coin. This is just a humble attempt to flip the coin and bring out the other side of this dark episode in the history.
"Me Nathuram Godse Boltoy" is a Marathi ( A language spoken in mid-western region of India ) play by Pradeep Dalavi. It depicts the autobiography of Nathuram Godse who assasinated M. K. Gandhi on January 30th 1948 and who was hanged on November 15th 1949. Maharashtra state govt denied permission to stage this drama in 1989. Now, after 9 years, it again came into the limelight with govt banning even the book. It seems that the Kerala State govt also has banned the translation of this book in Malayalam. Seeing that the other states also will follow the suit soon, we have provided the translation of excerpts from the play (Thanks to rediff) for those who love freedom of expression.
Text of Nathuram's Self Defense DisclaimerThis site is hosted in order to provide unbiased information about the murder of India's freedom fighter Mohandas. K. Gandhi and his assasin Nathuram Godse. This site neither supports Nathuram Godse's ideology nor does it disparage Gandhism. |
