Nick is introduced to a new attorney at Fallin & Fallin, Sadie Harper, who has come on board at the firm for a little support. It appears her personal's relationship with Clay Simms has landed her this job. She's a fiery one with opinions that she isn't hesitant to share. Nick works with Sadie to get a town full of people to sign away their rights when it discovered they're living at risk over a coal mine that may burn at any minute. At the same time, Nick is also helping one of the residents, a 14-year-old pregnant girl, find the medical attention she needs when it is discovered she has cancer that may have been caused by where she lives and the pollutants in the air. Lulu attempts to share her feelings with Nick before moving in the hopes that maybe they can make something work long distance, but he doesn't want to hear about it.
