Living History Displays usually feature a " public battle". This is a "staged action", where Allied and Axis troops portray a particular battle, using World War II tactics. Re-enactors use "blanks" in their weapons and pyrotechnics are often employed to simulate "battle conditions". Many fully restored military vehichles, both German and U.S. often accompany the infantry and airborne in the staged battles. Weapons on the vehicles have also been altered to fire "blanks", during the battle. Veteran groups, town and village leaders, and educators, often invite the 9th to display their camps and particpate in public ceremonies.
