In 1991, just before Yugoslavia started falling apart, I visited Medjugorge, where several children had reported visions of the Virgin Mary ten years earlier. This picture is the cover of a magazine distributed in Medjugorge, but printed in Belgrade. It seems especially poignant in view of the latest conflict in the Balkans, falling very much along ethnic and sectarian lines.
