YOU NEVER KNOW WHERE SHE’LL TURN UP

TREE

"In the southwest corner of the cemetery, a much larger crowd radiates from the base of an arboreal giant. About 20 feet off the ground, a branch stump seeping sap has taken on the image of the Virgin Mary."

FRUIT

"Amando Contreras Torres, a diminutive 57-year-old peasant, recently wrapped some mamey, a fleshy fruit similar to mango, in newspaper and packed them in a crate to ripen. When he unpacked the fruit a week later, the virgin's image was printed on a sheet of the newspaper in what looked like ink…In the town of Jalcomulco, Father Carlos Hernandez said 'People here are angry with me because I won't bless the fruit image. How am I ever going to get them to believe in an invisible God?'" - 3 November 1997 JALCOMULCO, Mexico (Reuters)

FREEZER DOOR

Image of the Virgin Mary appeared on a supermarket freezer door in the small La Conga Supermarket in Jersey City, New Jersey. The vision appeared inside the double-paned glass door of a freezer containing sausages, burritos and plantains. It faded away after a day, but hundreds of visitors left candles messages and flowers at the site. Many sick people came seeking cures.

STAIN

Water stains on the floor of Mexico City’s Hidalgo Metro station bore a likeness to the Mexican symbol Our Lady of Guadeloupe. Thousands of pilgrims have flocked to the spot. A woman, Esperanza Sandoval Olgin reported that a single pass over the stain cured her paralyzed right arm. "It’s the Virgin," she said. "Who else would it be?"
