Grassroots Recycling Network

Environmental Background Information Center is a non-profit organization that provides corporate research and strategic assistance to members of the public who are interested in getting involved in local environmental issues, such as taking on the big waste management companies.

The Citizens Environmental Alliance of Southwest Ontario and Southeastern Michigan is a very proactive Windsor,Ontario-based grassroots social justice and environmental organization. They are a true model for what a dedicated grassroots organization can accomplish.

Zero Waste America - Zero Waste America (ZWA) is an Internet-based environmental research organization specializing in the field of Zero Waste. There is lots of info on waste imports and disposal bans.

Information on Waste Import Battles in Other States

Virginia

Environmental Interest Organization is documenting the current battle that Virginia is fighting to keep from receiving massive amounts of waste from New York City as a result of the impending closure of NY's Fresh Kills Landfill.

The Virginia Conservation Network also has lots of information on Virginia's current waste import dilemma, including information on the Virginia legislature's and Governor's efforts to stop the flow of New York solid wastes.

Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania Environmental Network has a tremendous amount of information on the problems of waste import into Pennsylvania, the nation's "leading" import state. There are lots of good other links here as well.

Western States

Western Organization of Resource Councils (WORC) - WORC is made up of a number of environmental organizations throughout the west. Since 1993, WORC has campaigned to give rural people the Right to Say “No” to waste companies that want to build out-of-state waste, mega-landfills in their communities.

Fighting the Multinational Garbage Corporations

Neighbors Against Garbage (NAG) - NAG is a grassroots environmental justice organizing project based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY.

Stop Waste Management - This campaign against Waste Management (WMX/WMI) is sponsored by LEAD of Dayton, Ohio, USA.

Concerned Citizens of Cattaraugus County (CCCC) - A New York grassroots group monitoring all kinds of waste-related issues at the local, state, and national level.
