Hi, my name is Rik Saunders.
Over the years I have been fortunate to play bass guitar with such acts as Knightmayre, Loaded Dice, Full Service, Trail Blazers, The Traveling Bo Brothers, Makin' Bacon, etc. I have always enjoyed most types of music. And have enjoyed playing in bands. During this time I have enjoyed the thrill of being on stage. Being back stage. And being a part of the partying and all the things that go along with the concert and music world. During this time I have been privelidged to befriend and/or rub shoulders with musicians and celebrities the likes of: Tori Amos, Dave Grohel, Lee Carroll, Donna Dixon, Don Knotts, Chuck Norris, and bands ranging from Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, Twisted Sister, and many more. I am proud to say that I am still friends with a few of these people. But I would like to tell you about someone else who I came to know personally after several years in this lifestyle. Someone much more important than any of those I have already listed. That is Jesus Christ. After years of drinking and drug use, and living just to have fun, I tried settling down. But I had very little luck succeeding. Then one day I ended up facing a failed marraige, financial ruin, and many other problems. That's when Jesus came into my life. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. And accepted His free gift of salvation. He forgave me for all of my sins and helped to set me free. I still enjoy music. I even enjoy many of the same bands that I always listed to. I enjoy banging out notes on my bass guitar. Getting together with some of my old music buddies. And I enjoy riding in the wind on my Harley-Davidson. But I have a freedom that I never had before. I was freed from alcohol and drug abuse. Freed from the penalty of sin. And given a whole new life. A new marraige. And a wonderful outlook on life. Sure I still make mistakes. I'm only human just like you. To say that my life went perfect after accepting Jesus as my Savior would be a lie. I had to work through many problem areas in my life. And I still sin and make other mistakes. But with Jesus in my life it makes it so much easier to get back on my feet after I fall. And I don't stumble as nearly as often when I keep my eyes on Him. If you feel the need to make a change in your life, it's really very simple. You don't have to give up everything. You don't have to stop listening to certain types of music. You don't have to join a specific church. Honestly, there is nothing that you can do. It has already been done. Jesus came to Earth to live a perfect, sinless life. He then willingly allowed himself to be nailed to a cross to become the innocent sacrifice for our sins. He took our place. Then He rose from the dead. All you need to do is believe that he died for you. And that he rose again. And then ask Him to fogive your sins and be your Savior and Lord. A simple prayer like this is all you need to say: "Jesus, please forgive me for my sins and be my Lord and Savior. Thank You, amen."
