On a cloudy, cool Fall day (Oct 14, 2001) Stacey and I and Stef and Al headed to Amenia NY for a bike ride on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail.
This was previously a 46-mile railroad spur that brought milk from the local dairy farms (the original Sheffield Farm was here) and transported it to NY City.
The foliage was almost at peak and despite the gloomy skies, the color was briliant. The trail passes through some of the Harlem Valley's most scenic land with farmland, wetlands, beaver ponds, woodlands, and rolling pastures.
After, the four of us dined at one of the areas wineries: Cascade Mountain Winery and Restaurant.
Enjoy these photos taken that day.
