Sams Throne Special Interest area, is a nationally recognized climbing wonderland with over 200 established routes. "Sams Throne" , actually incorporates Sams Throne, The Outback, Northern Exposure, East and the west Bluff areas for a years worth of routes. There are changes being made by the forest service, that are for the most part climber friendly. They will be upgrading camping areas as well as adding a couple of bathrooms. New parking and access. However they will be closing the south entrance to vehicles, and camping is pack it in pack it out. There will be some thinning, and a heli-pad for rescue situations. This area is beautiful, just south of jasper and the Buffalo National River, which is a wonder all it's own. Make this a weekend trip at the least. I promise you'll never want to leave. I reccommend getting the guide book before you go. Clay Frisbie did an excellent job on this one. With it you will enjoy the trip 500% more look above to get it now !!

DO NOT MAKE ANOTHER CAMPSIGHT - USE ONE SOMEONE ELSE MADE !
There are plans for the Forest Service to build camping areas, and renovate the area. However, right now the sights have been cleared by visitors. They are located all over the bluff line and area, pick one and keep it clean. These areas have no running water or toilets. Bury all excrement 6 inches deep, pack out toilet paper. Most areas are
just a small cleared spot, and a "homemade" fire-ring.
