Buronson, also known as Sho Fumimura, was born in Nagano, Japan. His real
name is Yoshiyuki Okamura.
After graduating from the Japanese Air Force Training School in 1967, he served
as an Air Force radar mechanic until quitting in 1969. His first break in
comics came when Hiroshi Motomiya, one of Japan's premiere comic artists, hired
him as an assistant.
Buronson began his writing career in 1972, producing during this period his
first work, "Pink Punch: Miyabi". His first big hit, "The
Doberman Detective", appeared in 1975. The phenomenally successful
"Hokuto no Ken" debuted in 1983.
Buronson's titles are combined in more than 130 volumes of graphic novels.
Among his other major works are "The Phantom Gang" (art by Kaoru
Shintani) and "Human" (art by Ryoichi Ikegami).
