Newest Darius portraits taken earlier this month.

Darius hard at work...

Darius Theron was born on March 25th, 2002 at 8:00pm on the dot. He was born after three hours of pushing, and 38 hours of continuos labour. He was 8lbs 3oz, and 21 inches long at birth with a head circumfrence of 14 inches. Big baby...or so I've heard.

Darius is 14 months old now.
No one said that having a baby would require me to learn aerobics. No, I'm not talking about going to the gym. I'm talking about the kind where you run after your child to stop him from getting into something he's not supposed to, or running to catch him when he's falling, to rushing to his aid in some other way. You just can't get there quick enough.
If fear isn't in him, then something sure is. He walks, (nevermind crawling, that's too slow), and runs when he knows you're trying to catch him and stop him from doing something, or just playing.
Ever hear of trying to keep your kid out of the corner? (Darius, get OUT of the corner!)
I swear, I'm not THAT goofy, he doesn't get it from me!!
Darius can clap when he feels like it, wave bye bye, hold his hands out for something (big form of point), and hold his arms out to be held. He can also say Mama, Dada, Ama, Ki-Ki, Ya, Nigh-Nigh.
Darius is a meat chunk to me, but still mostly gets carried cause he's too mobile to be in a cart seat for long without trying to cause trouble.
Darius gets a bath everynight at bedtime. Daddy gives him a bath, and reads him a book or two before passing him off to mommy to rock him to sleep. Darius usually sleeps for most of the night. He wakes up at 6:30 or so, but that's better than 2am, or 4am. Or both for that matter.
Haven't taken a walk in a while, but Darius has. I walk him around the perimeter of our property, and across the street to visit our neighbours. He likes to pick Dandelions, grass, and anything else that might catch his eye while he's watching his feet.
At our latest doctor visit, he weighed in at 20lbs. The doctor wasn't too worried about it though. *shrugs* Darius still gets 4 square meals a day. Including whole milk, and whole milk yogurt. He doesn't really care for it too much, and it's difficult to get him to drink it.
Darius has become a fan of Whinnie the Pooh...he's got a chew toy, a Lovey blankie, a pull toy that plays the theme song, a mirror that plays the theme song, shoes that light up when he walks, and a room decorated in it.
