STUDENTS' FATHER BELIEVED TO BE A DATUK

PETALING JAYA, Fri:  Three schoolgirls who were caught with a few boys
in a Shah Alam condominium during a raid by religious officers on
Wednesday are believed to be children of a "Datuk" and two senior
police officers.

A source said that the condominium unit at Section 9 belongs to the
"Datuk" who is attached to an enforcement department.

His daughter, who studies in a nearby secondary school, regularly
invites friends to her home when her parents are away at work.

The students have been doing this for "quite some time" and are
believed to have accessed pornographic material through computers or
watched it on VCDs.

Residents, who do not want to be named, said they have on many
occasions seen students loitering in the compound.

They said their checks revealed that these students frequented one
particular apartment on the 11th floor of one of the blocks there.
They reported this "to the relevant authorities" several times but no
action had been taken.

The residents also said some of the four-room units in the blocks are
rented by male and female students sharing the same unit.

"Probably someone contacted Jais (the Selangor Religious Affairs
Department) to stop these unhealthy activities," said one resident.

Jais director Mansur Ramli declined to disclose any details.  The
matter, he said, is being handled by the state executive councillor in
charge of education, Datuk Zainal Ahmad Abidin.

Yesterday, Zainal denied the students were having a sex party when
officers raided the place.  They "were just playing truant" by not
attending school, he said.
