This tally was released by the commission at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday (1605 GMT) with 6,110,493 votes, around five percent, counted out of the expected 112 million votes cast.
National Awakening Party (PKB) 1,281,160 (20.9 percent) Golkar Party 971,441 (15.8 percent) United Development Party (PPP) 542,032 ( 8.9 percent) National Mandate Party (PAN) 365,883 ( 6.0 percent) The remaining votes were shared by a host of smaller parties. Indonesia has adopted a system of proportional representation which allows parties to share their votes and could play an important role in the final allocation of the 462 parliamentary seats up for grabs.
