Who I am, my family, hobbies and interests.

 | Who am I. I am Paul Tanner-Tremaine, a fifty-something,
software consultant and developer, been married to Janet for thirty-something years, have
2 grown up sons who have both left home, and currently we have 3 cats. We
used to live
in Westville, 10 miles inland from Durban on the Natal Coast, South Africa,
but since November 2001 have moved to Wokingham, Berkshire, England.
|
 | Interests and hobbies. You guessed it, Genealogy, as
well as Philately and Photography. (I started collecting stamps when I was 8, taking
photos at 10, and writing down family tree information when I was 14).
In my youth I
used to climb mountains ( Outward Bound - Kilimanjaro; Natal Drakensberg), and I also used
to play field Hockey and Squash.
|
 | Other interests. I hate to say it, computer stuff!
Flight Simulations on my PC. TV -watching Rugby Union, Cricket, Motor Racing, and
some good sitcoms like ER, Friends, Dharma and Greg, 3rd Rock, etc. Used to help out with
the Boy Scouts Organisation, and help run a Radio Controlled Car Club - my son used to
race!
|
 | Why did I make a Web Site. Simple. I
wanted and needed to know how to do it from a work point of view, and it would be a good
logical place to put all the information on genealogy that I had gathered off the
net. Give something back as it were. So, I loaded Frontpage 98 onto my PC,
opened up "Frontpage 98 for Dummies", had some fun for about a week in the
evenings, and this is the result! Now upgraded to FP 2000 and learning
more about DHTML, javascript and all that geek stuff...

 | Current Genealogy Quests. I am trying to find
details of my Paternal grand-father, Arthur Tanner-Tremaine, his siblings and
ancestry. We know he was born circa 1890, no idea where; served in the
Great War 1914 - 1918; and got married in 1920, I have a copy of the marriage
certificate. He 'left' my grandmother circa 1930, and no trace of him since that
date. I am also searching for info on my maternal grandmother's ancestry; Gertrude
Irish - father David Irish, mother Helen David. Anybody know them?

 | Latest News. During 2000 we found a
whole new branch of the family in Australia, and have now got a whole new
batch of info on my Penn Ancestry, plus a whole lot of pre 1900 photographs
to sort out! Sometime soon I will re-publish my tree with all the new
info - the db is now over 5300 people! I've also just done a major
update to the Fynn & Southey sections. I am also in the process
assembling a database with 1820 Settlers to South Africa, and one on the
Webbers, when time permits.
Please e-mail me at paultt@onetel.net.uk if you can
help. Thanks.
