NORTH VIETNAM
Hostile, died while missing
FIXED WING - PILOT
AIR LOSS, CRASH ON LAND
Body was not recovered
**
5/30/02: A quick
search of the POW/MIA
Database (See Below)
revealed initial casualty
reporting that seemed to
originate with the USS
Constellation.
Additionally, subjects of
a few message abstracts
(for lack of a better
term) suggest that Cmdr.
McBride's aircraft was
lost in the "bien tri thien province"
and the "South China
Sea." The South
China Sea is the body of
water that separates the
countries of Vietnam,
Borneo, and the
Phillipines.
Additionally, I believe
that "bien tri thien"
is actually a misspelling
-- I believe that it
should have read "Binh
Tri Thien;" which is
where the City of Hue is
located.
However,
the Loss Coordinates
indicate the loss over the
South China Sea, but
between the cities of Nam
Dinh and Thanh Hoa.
This is what is displayed
on the Loss Coordinates
Map located in the sidebar
to the left.
