2014 Young Bird

Thank you for taking the time to help out with the lost pigeon. A lot of times a lost racing pigeon will hang around for a day or two and then continue on home. Sometimes you can help out by providing them with water and some grain. Corn, unpopped popcorn, Uncooked Rice, wild bird seed are some things you may have around the house that you can give them. If you have captured the pigeon or you can get the information off of the band, fill out the form below and provide the information needed to find the owner. If you have not been able to contain the pigeon, It may be roosting (sleeping) in a place that someone would be able to capture it?

One way to catch them is if they are roosting somewhere that you can reach them, wait until it gets dark, (they do not see well at night), keep lights off around it and you can walk up and pick them up. They do not bite or peck at you, they may grunt and try to squirm away from you. Just hold them firm around the body with both hands and place in a small cage or cardboard box with air holes. There isn't any reason to worry about catching something from it, although as with any animal, after handleing it, it is good to wash your hands.
If you fill out the form below, keep in mind that unless the pigeon has been captured there is not much anyone can do, so if you would like someone to come and get the bird it is best to have it captured.

Thanks again.
