The Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) is a chartered State College located at Palompon, Leyte. It started with a couple of buildings, a handful of teachers, and a measly group of students. The Institute has struggled for more than thirty (30) years to attain its present status, policies and programs. For three decades, PIT has continue offering quality, affordable and accessible education to the people of its service area.
PIT's most significant milestone and banner performance of the current PIT administration is the forging of a lasting partnership in International Maritime Education between the Philippines and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, an undisputed stalwart in the world of Maritime industry. With the certification of PIT's Quality Standard System (QSS) by the Det Norske Veritas (DNV), a top-rated accrediting body of Norway, coupled with the built-up enthusiasm of the PIT community, the Institute made it in the CHED-IMO "white list" stipulating the Maritime Academies of the Philippines that passed and obtained full compliance in the evaluation of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
In all counts, Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT) is the only Dutch - sponsored State College in Maritime Education in the entire Philippine archipelago, and is fast becoming the "Dutch Maritime Academy in the Philippines".
The Palompon Institute of Technology accepts new students, transferees and returnees with complete requirements and have qualified and passed the College Admission Test. For more details and information, don't hesitate to approach or see the College Registrar.
