Speak the truth to each other; let the judgements at your gates be such as conduce to peace.
(Zech. 8:16)

The word ‘dialogue’ is a correlate of the word ‘freedom’. Dialogue is the principle of forming relations between people on all kinds of scales; on the international scale, between people of different convictions and groups of different convictions – on the principle of a common search for truth.

Dialogue cannot be unilateral dictating of terms, nor action from a position of power, using that power to curtail the authentic existence of another.

Dialogue is an offshoot of freedom, it establishes freedom and serves it in relationships between people, between nations. Dialogue is at once the source and the guarantee of peace on every scale.
