That Should Have Been (What Else is There)
Pooka Regent: 08/01/2002

Let the indigo-grey of the winter morning's sky eat your soul away
Consign yourself to hollow nights and empty days
Live only to sleep so you can dream of better times
What has gone wrong in the world that should have been

It was supposed to be so full of life, but now there's only dust
Instead of living flesh, just bones and withered promises
Stillborn ideas that never made it to fruition
Beginnings lost, endings surrounding, a grave of all and nothing

You spend all your time running, but the finish line's long gone
And yet you just can't seem to rest
What are you aiming for in the chaos
What has gone wrong in the vapor that should have been solid

Falling amid derision coming from within
Where will you find any rest
Living and dying are both unpalatable
What else is there save what you have now

In the peace that should have been
Drown yourself in the war
What else is there
