Facts: The Pasco Athletic League (PPAL) is a nonprofit organization governed by the Pasco County (FLA.)
Sheriffs Office. PPAL comprises of 11 teams throughout the counties of the northern Tampa Bay area.
PPAL involves children of the ages of 5 through 16 years old for football and cheer leading from August
to November of each year.
Historical Fact: PPAL was established in 1973 by John Short when he teamed up with the Chief of Police of
New Port Richey

Mighty Mites..............................up to 115 lbs.
Jr. Varsity....................................up to 140 lbs.
Varsity.........................................up to 165 lbs.

Flag Team ...........................ages 5-6
Flyweights...........................ages 7-8
Mighty Mites ......................ages 9-10
Jr Varsity...............................ages 11-12

Play Downs
Flyweights -------------9 years old that weigh less than or 70 lbs.
Mighty Mites ---------11 years old that weigh less than or 90 lbs.
Jr. Varsity--------------13 years old that weigh less than or 115 lbs.
Varsity------------------16 years old that weigh less than 140 lbs.

Play Downs
Each player must be weighed before each game and must not exceed to any degree the scheduled weight for that game . The maximum play down weight will increase by 1lb. per week in the regular season after the first 6 weeks.
We do not allow anyone other than parents or legal guardians to drive their children to and from away games
