1. THE HOLCOMB COLLEGE AWARD (college/university students) $25.00 Offered by J. Paul Holcomb, 17th President of PST, for the best poem of 28 lines or less. Any form, any subject.
2. THE POETRY IN THE ARTS COLLEGE AWARD (college/university students) $25.00 Offered by Poetry in the Arts, Inc. for the best poem of 28 lines or fewer on any subject.
3. THE CELEBRATING DIFFERENCE AWARD (College/University students) $25.00 Given by L.D. Carter for a free verse poem of personal observations regarding people who are "different." Any form, 28 lines or fewer.

4. THE POETRY IN THE ARTS HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AWARD (grade 12) Offered by Poetry in the Arts, Inc. for the best poem on any subject and in any form. 28-line limit.
5. THE STUDENT FESTIVAL AWARD (grades 11-12). Offered by Leona Welch in honor of young poets and their poetry. Any subject, any form, 28-line limit. First place winner will receive a one-year student membership in Poetry Society of Texas.
6. THE OGLE HUMOR AWARD (Grade 11-12) Offered by N.W. and Imogene Ogle for a humorous poem on any subject. 28-line limit.
7. THE BAASS AWARD (Grade 11-12) Offered by Mildred Vorpahl Baass, Poet Laureate of Texas 1993-1994, 1994-1995 and Nancy Baass, 2nd Vice President of the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, Inc. for the best poem on any subject, in any form. 28-line limit.
8. THE MAAHS AWARD (grades 10-12). Offered by Harvey & Iris Maahs of San Antonio, TX for the best poem in any form or subject, 28 lines or fewer.
9. THE POETRY SOCIETY OF TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL AWARD (grades 9-12) Offered by Poetry Society of Texas for a poem of no more than 28 lines on any subject, any form.
10. THE WHITNEY M. MONTGOMERY AWARD (grades 9-12) Established in the will of Estelle Stewart in memory of Whitney M. Montgomery, for the best poem on any subject and in any form. 28-line limit.
11.THE SHADY HILL AWARD (grades 9-12). Offered by J. Paul Holcomb for the best poem of 28 lines or less about the importance of caring for our world and its environment.
12. THE DR. JOHN WITT MEMORIAL AWARD (grades 9-12) Offered by Helen Martin Witt of Clarksville, Texas, in memory of her husband, a dedicated physician, for the best poem of 28 lines or less. Any subject/any form.
13. THE JACK E. MURPHY HIGH SCHOOL PRIZE (grades 9-12) Offered by Freeda Murphy in memory of her husband, the 9th President of The Poetry Society of Texas, for the best poem of no more than 28 lines on any subject and in any form.
14. THE CASTLE AWARD (grades 9-12). Offered by Birma Castle of Beaumont, TX, for a poem of 28 lines or less, in any form, any subject.
15. THE HUMOR AWARD (grades 9-12) Offered by Ann M. Moorhead of Wichita Falls, TX, for the best humorous poem, in good taste, any subject, free verse or rhymed, 12 lines or less.
16. THE APPRECIATION PRIZE (grades 9-12) Offered by Linda Banks, PST's past President, to honor Leona Welch, Kaye Abikhaled and Budd Powell Mahan for their dedication to The Poetry in Schools program. Any subject, any form, 28-line limit.
17. THE STODGHILL HIGH SCHOOL AWARD (grades 9-12) Offered by Pat Stodghill for a free verse poem on any subject. 28-line limit. First place winner receives a one-year student membership in Poetry Society of Texas in addition to other recognition.
18. THE PRESIDENTS PRIZE (grades 9-12). Offered by Budd Powell Mahan in honor of PST's 19 Presidents, for a poem of 28 lines or fewer on any subject, any form.
19. THE SONNET AWARD (grades 9-12). Offered by Peggy Wood in memory of her father: Alvin R. Volk, HS English teacher. A Petrarchan or Shakespearean sonnet. Subject: A beloved pet.
20. THE ALEXANDER AWARD (grades 8-12) Offered by The Alexander School of Richardson. A Free Verse poem on a topic that explores 'individualism', 28-line maximum.
21. THE DORIS WILLIAMSON STUDENT AWARD (grades 8-12) Offered by Kay Baines of Dallas in recognition of the contributions of Doris Williamson to the student awards program of PST at its inception. Any subject, any form, 28-line limit. Winner receives a one-year student membership in Poetry Society of Texas in addition to other recognition.
22. THE TEXAS SONNET AWARD (grades 8-12) Offered by Billy Bob Hill of Dallas for an English (Shakespearean) or Petrarchan (Italian) sonnet on a Texas subject. Winner will receive a one-year membership in the Poetry Society of Texas.
23. THE CHEROKEE AWARD (grades 6-12) Offered by Bill G. Anderson of Longview, for the best poem on any subject, any form, 28-line limit.
24. THE NANCY BAASS AWARD (grades 9-10) Offered by William C. Lo Pinto in honor of Nancy Baass, 2nd Vice President of the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, Inc. for the best poem on any subject, in any form. 28-line limit.

40. THE WICHITA FALLS UPPER ELEMENTARY AWARD (grades 5-6) Offered by The Wichita Falls Poetry Society for a poem on the theme, "GROWING UP." Any form, 28 lines or fewer.

45. THE HELEN KING AWARD (grade 5). Offered by The Hockaday School of Dallas, TX, for the best poem celebrating the wondrous world of books, in any poetic form. No more than 24 lines.
46. THE ENCHANTED ACRES AWARD (grades 4-5). Offered by Dorothy Miller Birdwell of Chandler, TX, for the best poem on any subject, any form, 28 lines or less.
47. THE UNITED DAY SCHOOL POET AWARD (grades 4-5) Offered by Hilda Trevino of Laredo for a poem of no more than 20 lines in any form.
48. THE HOCKADAY LOWER SCHOOL ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AWARD (grades 3-4) Offered by The Hockaday Lower School of Dallas for the best poem dealing with the theme of environmental issues. 28 lines maximum. Hockaday students may not enter.
49. THE POETRY SOCIETY OF TEXAS ELEMENTARY AWARD (grades 1-3) Offered by PST for a poem of no more than 12 lines on any subject and in any form.
50. THE GENEVIEVE BOYD STEWART AWARD (grades 1-3) Established in the will of Estelle Stewart in memory of Genevieve Boyd Stewart, for the best poem on any subject, in any form, 12-line limit.
51. THE MARION CRUME POETRY AWARD (grades 1-3) Offered by The Hockaday Lower School of Dallas for the best poem on any subject and in any form. 28 lines maximum. Hockaday students may not enter.
52. THE UNITED DAY SCHOOL ELEMENTARY POET AWARD (grades 1-3) A poem of 10 lines or fewer on any subject, offered by Hilda Trevino of Laredo.
53. THE POETRY IN THE ARTS - FOUND POETS - AWARD (elementary school K-3) Offered by Poetry in the Arts, Inc. for a poem cooperatively created by the students of a single class. The prize will be given to the entire class. The entry should be teacher assisted, but with a minimum of direction. No more than 18 lines.
