XENOGEARS: REBIRTH OF A PLANET

"The ship for Kisrev is this way, people! Everyone this way!" shouted Billy Black Lee as he directed people to the ship. The city of Shebat was a total mess; people were being shipped back to their towns and cities to start over. The still injured and weak people are going back to Nisan for better medical treatment. Rico Banderas sauntered through the mess in his usual proud manner, even though he wasn't the champ anymore. It was habit not arrogance though; he was well built and tall.

"Hey, PreacherBoy. Is this the ship? Rico asked.

"Yes, and don't call me that!" Billy scowled.

"Sure, PreacherBoy." Rico said as he headed towards the ship.

"Hey Rico! Wait a second!" Wong Fei Fong shouted as he came running up.

"What's up Fei?" Rico said turning around. "Are you sure you want to go back to Kisrev alone to face your father?" Fei asked concerned.

"I told you before, I don't need any help." Rico snorted.

"Well… Then be careful, and good luck." Fei said hesitantly.

"Don't get mushy Fei, I don't want to think I lost my title to a pansy!" Rico said as he boarded the ship.

"Jerk." Billy muttered while Fei smiled as they watched the ship take off. 

"So Billy, are you leaving tomorrow?" Fei turned to Billy.

"Yes, Primera and I need to get back to the orphanage."

"Is your da…uh…Jessie coming?" Fei asked quickly.

"He'd better for Primera's sake!" Billy said angrily. Fei nodded and began to walk away and then he turned around again.

"Esmeralda is looking for you."

"Why?" Billy asked looking confused.

"I don't pretend to know anything more you do, Billy. And she wouldn't tell me either. Elly and I leaving tonight, so if I don't see you again this is good bye."

"Nisan?" Billy asked. "Yeah, Elly and I are thinking of making our home there." Fei nodded.

"Goodbye and good luck then, Fei!" Billy said as Fei walked out of the launch area. Billy turned around and nearly tripped over Chuchu. "Don't sneak up on people!" Billy snapped.

"My are chu high-strung todaychu. She said as she dusted off her pink body. "I wasn't sneaking around chu I was looking for Citan's ship." He's leaving todaychu."

"Really? I'll help you find him then." He said trying to make up for tripping over her and snap ping at her after.

"Thank chu." Chuchu said as she followed Billy. This place is huge Billy thought as they looked valiantly for any sign of Citan.

"Hey, there is Bart and Margie. Maybe they know where Citan is?" Billy said as Chuchu bounded towards the pair.

"Chuchu! Margie exclaimed, "Are you coming too?" Chuchu shook her head,

"No, chu I want to stay here with my peoplechu I will visit chu, I promise chu."

"That's okay Chuchu, but I'll miss you!" Margie said sadly.

"Ugh, will you two cut it out! I'm getting sick!" Bart said in mock annoyance. 

"Is this Citan's ship, the Yggdrasil?" Billy asked before Margie could say anything.

"Yes, Bart said proudly, I'm leaving today and Lahan is pretty close to Aveh. So I offered him a ride. Look, he is FINALLY here too."

"Was I that late?" Citan said as he came into earshot with Yui and Midori close behind.

"Yes, and we definitely gotta go now!" Bart said impatiently.

"Hey, wait a minute Citan, Billy interrupted, "Are you still working on a alternate power source for the Gears?"

"Yes, in fact I'm experimenting on yours and mine. Is that okay?" Citan asked pushing up his glasses.

"Yes, of course. I just wanted to know if you are making any progress?" Billy asked curiously.

"I'm afraid not young one. Trust me you'll l be the first to know if I turn anything up. Goodbye Billy." Citan said ushering his family to the waiting ship.

"Goodbye you two!" Bart and Margie shouted boarding the ship.

"Oh yeahchu, Chuchu said looking up at Billy, Esmeralda is looking for chu.

"I know, Fei told me. Do you know where she is?" said Billy.

"Ohhhh, are you twochu..." Chuchu said mischievously.

"Don't try messing with me Chuchu" Billy said sardonically.

"I don't know what you are talking about Billy." Chuchu said innocently. Billy muttered something incoherent and then said:

"Do you know where she is or not?"

"I saw her in the kid's room, looking for you." Chuchu said giving up on her teasing.

"See you later then Chuchu." Billy said leaving the launch area. What would need she to talk to me about to me about? Billy thought as he headed for the kid's rooms. He watched some of the children in gentle curiosity. Some of them were being adopted while others had no family to speak of. He realized how different the orphanage would be now. It would no longer be a site for Solaris' slavery deals. It made him angry to think of how all of the good he was trying to do turned into evil purposes. He was used and he did not even realize it. Never again Billy thought these children have a future now. One free from that evil. Billy was interrupted from his thoughts from sudden shouts of excitement. Most of the children where in a circle around a woman with green hair. They were laughing and gasping as she stretched her arm at a outrageous length to pat a child or made her hair stand up at odd angles. Billy stood quietly watching it was amazing what those nano-machines did to create her. There is no other like her; no one was sure what the extents of her abilities are. Not even Fei could tell them much about her, even with the memories of Kim stored inside him.

Finally, one of the kids noticed him and shouted: "Hey, Billy's here!" The children moved immediately to greet him. Even those who did not know him well were curious about him.

Billy smiled: "Sorry everyone, I came to borrow Esmeralda for a minute." There were groans from the children but they nodded unhappily. "Fei told me you were looking for me?" Billy asked as she approached.

"Yes, I wanted to know if I could come… with you? She asked quickly, I won't be pest and I just like to stay there for a little while…"

Billy nodded: "I…uh…sure, if you need to go ahead." A rare smile appeared on her face:

"Thank you Billy." And then she turned back to the awaiting children. Billy for once in his life did not know what to make of what just happened, Esmeralda was polite and quiet tempered for once. Esmeralda was usually a loner and prone to anger, and here she is playing with the children. Even more so he had no idea why he said yes to her. And he wondered what exactly he was getting into.

His thoughts were once again interrupted by the sound of a intercom: "All passengers heading for Nisan, should depart now."

"Hey Esmeralda! Fei and Elly are leaving. Do you want to see them off?" Billy shouted over the children's excited shouts.

"Yes." Esmeralda said hurrying after him. When they arrived at the ship they found Chuchu, Maria, Dan, Elly, and Fei already there.

"You can come with us Dan if you want to." Elly said kindly to the boy.

"No thanks lady. Dan said arrogantly. I'd rather stay here and take care of myself. I'm used to it."

"Fine, Elly said, but come see us anytime tough guy."

"It's funny how everyone split apart after everything. But I have a feeling we will see each other again soon." Fei said musingly.

"Let's hope it's in betterchu chucircumstances." Chuchu bounced.

Maria nodded in agreement: "Me too."

Elly turned to Esmeralda: "I hope we will better friends, too."

"We will." Esmeralda smiled genuinely.

Fei gave Esmeralda a small hug and said "Goodbye Esmeralda."

"You better get to the ship." Billy said seeing the pilot's impatient looks. Goodbye everyone, we will see each other again!" Fei said as he and Elly boarded the ship. Slowly, the ship took off and disappeared in the horizon.

The day passed all too quickly for the inhabitants of Shebat and the dawn's early light appeared as the new day started. But even now, Billy was already tired he had to make sure all of the children going were ready and present at the launch. He hadn't seen his father and assumed he was wasted somewhere. At least Primera and Esmeralda are already here he thought counting heads, and suddenly realized that the youngest, Tommy was missing. "Oh no! Billy exclaimed, Esmeralda tell the pilot to wait…"

"Look Billy." Esmeralda answered pointing. To his surprise his Jesiah was coming with the little child Tommy.

Jesiah smiled his usual bearish smile: "Ready to go Billy and Primera? Hello Esmeralda." This is going to be a long day Billy thought unhappily.

I'm finally here Rico thought as he stepped off the Shebatan ship. A part of him felt glad to be back in his homeland, a small sense of belonging filled him as he stared outward. "Heh, he smiled, I'm getting to be like Fei." He entered the city through the prison sectors; half watching the populace rebuild the broken city.
"Hey! It's the Champ!" A group of Battlers and Amazons approached him eagerly.

"I told you before, he said gruffly, I'm not the champ anymore."

"It doesn't matter we will always follow you." A Battler named John said stubbornly. The rest of them nodded vigorously.

"I have to do something ALONE." Rico said turning away.

"Alright" they said unhappily.

"Good." Rico said leaving. Rico headed towards the palace and found only workers and machines building a new one. The fusion battle with the Yggdrasil must have damaged it too much. Damn he thought I wonder where the Kaiser could be then? A loud guard answered the question for him:

"Man, I can't believe the Kaiser is staying in one of the noble's house."

"Shut up, said another, do you want someone to hear you ditz!"

Rico smiled satisfactorily at his amazing hearing abilities and started running in the opposite direction. There weren't many nobles in Kisrev, so Rico knew where he'd find the most extravagant house for the Kaiser to stay in. Rico scanned the area of the house finding a small airduct for him to squeeze through. Surprisingly enough Rico was silent as a panther as he moved through the yard. When he reached the airduct he squeezed through quickly.

Rico moved throughout the duct listening for sign of the Kaiser. After what seemed like two hours he heard organ playing, that must be the Kaiser he thought excited. He kicked out the metal underneath and jumped in the room.

"What, you again!" the Kaiser said excitedly.

"I am your son, Rico said quietly, accept it." "You must be out of your mind!" he exclaimed and then he remembered:

"The door it would only open to matching DNA. I…I checked it, it wasn't malfunctioning."

"More reason…"Rico began

"Wait! What is that around your neck!" the Kaiser said excitedly.

"It was given to me when I was a child." said Rico.

"It was my wife's necklace." The Kaiser said slowly. Then the door suddenly burst open:

"Are you alright Kaiser? We heard a loud noise…It's Rico! Get him!" said a bunch of guards.

"No! Stop!" The Kaiser exclaimed. They all turned to stare at the Kaiser. "He is my son."
