I am reading Georgina's journal this week.  I come across the issue that every woman knows by heart and men scoff at because it doesn't happen to them:  if you talk about your sexuality and perhaps are suggestful in your attitude or dress, you are a slut if female and a stud if male.  Georgina says :

Men, it seems, can talk about sex and sexuality, even on a very personal and real level, and it's just... thoughts. Words. Verbiage. When women do it, however...

Well, you know the rest.

Sometimes I like to tell myself that attitudes are changing, and I suppose they are, slowly. But given we still hear talk of women "asking for it" if they act or dress suggestively -- an attitude that really angers me -- it's easy to see it translating to web activities. You talk about sex? You have a wish list with underwear? Lord, you posted a few tasteful nudes?

You're just a hot number raring to give it to anybody who asks, aren't you?

Of course you are.

Tease.

Hey, stop fighting me, you know you want it...

This seems to most to be a gross exaggeration, because it doesn't happen to them (thank God) but it happens enough that people should know it is a very real thing.  There is no way to win in this situation.  I'm not saying that it is hopeless, just that you can't rush it.  All you can do really is change yourself and those around you as possible.  "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world"  This is true in your children as it is in your friends and family.  You influence everyone you know as well as they influence you.

I know I'm saying it badly, it just concerns me that people still link sex to morality.  Yes, I can see some of you nodding your head and saying "but that's exactly what morality is...sex."  No it's not.  Sex and morality, I believe, have very little to do with eachother.  I won't say nothing, but really, very little.  Consider:  you can still be considered a questionable witness in court if it is shown that you are sexually promiscuous (At least if you are a woman).  As if by acknowledging your sexuality, you rot your awareness of the truth.  Sex, as much as our culture rides on it, is still considered bad.  Sex is evil, the way Satan's minions get to you, what destroys your life and leads to drugs and illness.  Women who acknowledge that they have sex, will, by definition, have sex anywhere with anyone.  All or nothing.

Of course, the flip side of this is that if you don't have sex and don't talk about it, you are repressed and frigid.  All's fair in love and war? Hah! Love is war.

This is not to say that I don't believe in equal rights, I think that someone should not be looked at as a "fag" or a "freak" just because they can do something that is thought to be in the other gender's domain.

"A human being (men and women) should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, con a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, (mow the lawn, sew a straight stitch, fix a car, raise a child), take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.  Specialization is for insects." -- Lazarus Long (and me)

Homo sapiens got to this end of the food chain by being able to do anything and be flexible doing it.  You, no matter what gender you are, should be able to do just about anything, or at least not be afraid to try (ok, I make exception for stuff like pissing out a campfire and having babies).  I like the Man Show, on tv at night.  Men should be allowed to be pigs and Neanderthals sometimes, just as women have the total right to be bitches.  We should also be perfectly at home in the Victorian era, true ladies and gentlemen, after all specialization is for insects.
