Capital fm Chat
Earlier this week Blue were announced as part of this year’s Capital Christmas Live lineup. They dropped in on Foxy to chat about the event, and reveal their plans between now and then…
Foxy: Blue are here, how are you today, are you well?
Blue: Yeah, not so bad thank you.
Foxy: I almost seem to have seen way to much of you over the last week and a bit, haven't I really!
Blue: You missed a very good night out on Thursday after the gig in Manchester at the Apollo, it was great fun.
Foxy: Where did you go?
Blue: We went out for a few beers, and then Westlife wanted to go out and find a bit of dancing of a variety! It was a practice for Brian's stag do, but everything closed up quite early. I couldn't believe it.
Foxy: So you had a party in your hotel room did you?
Blue: We actually went back and had a party in the hotel lobby until about 4am!
Foxy: But anyway - life's going very well for you, I enjoyed your set. I watched you from backstage. It looked like you'd got it pretty well sorted out, you've not been together for that long but you look like you really know what you're doing on stage.
Blue: Well, we have been together for about two years. But obviously over the last year we've been in each other's pockets and stuff. Most of our routines go out the window, so we just end up free-styling it! We just feed of each other, and I think that's the best thing about us, instead of having a set routine.
Foxy: You seem to genuinely enjoy being on stage...
Blue: That's what we love. When we got together we were all asking ourselves what were the fundamental points of making a band and we decided that it was being on stage together and feeding off the kids and the audience. It's the best feeling in the world.
Foxy: Those real pop events are very addictive though aren't they, because the atmosphere's awesome.
Blue: The kids are enjoying it so much, and when we go towards them they just go mental. Brilliant, excellent!
Foxy: It's nice to have a small venue like that where people can come right up to the stage...
Blue: It's more intimate. When they put those barriers up you get worried about them because they get squashed.
Foxy: Party In The Park couldn't be more different could it? 50 yards away is the nearest eyeball you can see and it spreads back a km! Now you're all lined up to do Capital Christmas Live, are you excited?
Blue: Very excited. It's our first live gig with a live band, so we're excited about that. We're doing six tracks, and we're discussing the Christmas track as we speak, so that'll be a surprise.
Foxy: Between now and Capital Christmas Live what are you going to be up to?
Blue: We're off to Australia in two weeks time. We're doing a two week promo tour round there and New Zealand, so that's going to be really good fun.
Foxy: Has the record been released over there yet?
Blue: Yeah. 'All Rise' went to No.1 in New Zealand, and I think No.2 in Australia, so we did really well over there.
Foxy: It's so far away, do you think it will be really freaky when you get off the plane and all these people will know you?
Blue: Yeah. But music makes the world go round doesn't it!
Foxy: Are you looking forward to going over there?
Blue: Oh yes! It's summer there! And apparently we're on stage with Craig David and Wyclef and everybody, it's going to be brilliant.
Foxy: And it has to be said, some of the fittest looking women in the world down there!
Blue: We've heard that! We've heard Australian birds are up for a good laugh!
Foxy: Have a great time and see you at Capital Christmas Live.
