Luke Skywalker

Luke Skywalker is the son of Anakin Skywalker and the hero of episodes IV-VI. He is the first new Jedi Knight since his father's time. Luke has trouble realizing his true calling because he is living on Tatooine at the beginning of Episode IV: A New Hope. Tatooine is not the most exciting place to live with it being entirely a desert. Luke wishes to go off to the Space Academy so he can be a fighter pilot. However, his uncle Lars doesn't wan't him to turn out like his father, Anakin. Luke never knew his father and his uncle tells him he was a freighter pilot and was killed in a shipping accident. Of course, Anakin is far from that description, especially at this time. It is on Tatooine that Luke meets the Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi. Kenobi teaches Luke the ways of the Force and tells him it is his destiny to become a Jedi Knight like his father once was. Luke inherits his father's lightsaber and begins his quest to save the galaxy. He saves the beautiful Princess Leia and destorys the first Death Star. He completes his training and becomes a Jedi Knight under the guidance of the Jedi Master Yoda. He learns Darth Vader is really Anakin Skywalker, his father. He eventually turns his father back to the Light Side after defeating him in battle. Fortunately for Luke, his father's first action on the Light Side is to turn against his evil master, Emperor Palpatine, to save his son from certain death. Luke is probably the biggest hero of the Rebellion and fights along such heroes as Han Solo, Wedge Antilles, and Lando Calrissian. Without his efforts, the galaxy would never have been saved and the Jedi Order would never have be resurrected.
