Levi Fuller & The Library
Levi is the bassist and vocalist for The Luna Moth, a band I drummed in for a couple of years. Levi's drummer Casey (from the incredible band Wesafari) ran out of time to devote to Levi so I was asked to learn Levi's songs to back up Casey when he had other commitments. So Levi and I rehearsed as a duo so I could learn his somewhat-tricky song structures and rhythms. He eventually brought onboard former National Red member James Nixon on bass and Water Kill The Sun keyboardist Gavin Gregory joined in on keys. And my version of Levi Fuller & The Library was born. Levi's music on record bears little resemblance to Levi live. His albums are full of the fusion of Appalachia, delta blues, and low-key indie rock. Live, The Library is an indie-rock juggernaut with texture. Levi's forthcoming album This Murder Is a Peaceful Gathering was recorded with Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine) and has his definite stamp on it (electronic beats and atmospherics blended with fractured folk acoustic guitars and vocals.) The live presentation of this material leaned more towards modern-day Wilco. Now The Library is drummerless and Levi kinda likes it that way.
