KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 (AFP) - Malaysian High Court Justice Abdul Wahab Patail made the following rulings Tuesday in relation to the June 7 sodomy trial of ousted deputy premier Anwar Ibrahim:

a. No counsel, person or party, directly or through counsel, shall make any comment, statement or give any interview to any person in relation to the proceedings before the court or any matter related to it.

b. No comment, interview or statement, other than a factual report of evidence or submissions in relation to the proceedings before the court or any matter related to it, is permitted to be published in any form. Reporters of any media organisation breaching the order shall be barred from the court.

c. Further orders to be issued as may be necessary.

Anwar, who was sacked and arrested in September, was sentenced to six years in jail last month for corruption.

Apart from his June 7 sodomy trial, he still faces another corruption charge and four more counts of sodomy, a criminal offence in Malaysia with up to 20 years in jail plus whipping.
