The tiny Palaiologan chapel is located directly east of the Kariye Camii, in a low area. It had all but vanished, with a shanty constructed over the top of it, and in my early visits to Istanbul, I was unable to find it. The site was cleared by the Archaeological Museum in the early 1980s, revealing a substantial portion of the lower level, including some detailing from the apse on the main level.
