"I hope to God you will not ask me to go to any other country except my own."

Barboncito, Navajo Chief 1868

Grandmother

Sagebrush must be one of the strongest plants I know
They survive
Cold winters
Dry summers
They live on
One little rain and their gray leaves turn green
They smell so good after a rain

My grandmother the sagebrush
She falls
She has seizures
She lives on
She looks like the sagebrush during the dry seasons
Grandmother can’t remember my name
She lives on without any rain
