Is this the world we created?

Here in Holland some actions are going on. I like to link them to my page, as if I think that it is totally in the spirit of Freddie, our Freddie and of Queen, our Queen, that this should be heaven for everyone. Thank you all

Personal thoughts and comments

A silent protest, in a tunnel near by where I live. It shows the distance between Kosova and Arnhem. Only a daytrip away where the most terrible things are happening.

Hi Hans,Great idea to have people express their view about something as awful as war.
I agree with what you say about the inhumanity of war. How people should treat each other with respect.
But the unfortunate fact is, there are some evil people out there, who are very savvy at appealing to people's lowest instincts.
It's hard to know whats' really going on there, because of all the propaganda on both sides. You have to read between the lines and try and make sense out of it the best you can. But, pictures don't lie. It's great having cnn to keep liars in their place....again, liars on BOTH sides. Truth is one of the first casualties of war.
But you said war has no winners. I disagree. True, humanity loses when we kill each other. But I think war is as necessary as it is obscene....and it's our responsibility to fight the 'good fight.'
I'm sorry, but characters like Hitler and Hussien were/are power hungry, evil, and MUST be stopped. It's humanities responsibility to stop scum like this. If someone comes in your house and threatens to kill your family, you are morally excused from doing WHATEVER it takes to protect your family. If the threat needs to be killed, so be it. If it comes down to my kids' life and the intruder, what would you choose?

We have a human responsibility never to let genocide (I'm not calling the current crises genocide...but it's on the way to becoming genocide) happen again. War is necessary, unfortunately.....The two world wars and Iraq bear this out....on the other hand, Vietnam and Afghanistan are sad examples of war for the wrong reason.
There SHOULD have been a war in Rwanda . Humanity must learn from its mistakes and never let evil commit a holocaust against another group because their skin pigment or spiritual beliefs are different. We have a moral responsibility to STOP groups that commit atrocities....in other words, going to war.
The sad fact is there was no war in because it was in no one's political interest to intervene. Why? Not enough people give a shit if Blacks are being butchered. If this happened in a country of whites, the UN and NATO would have been there in a flash. NOT going to war in Rwanda - that's a sad commentary on our humanity.
I'm not saying war is good. But war is necessary. Milosovic has started 3 wars. Let's stop him from starting another. It should be he and his cronies who are killed, not the Serb people. But that's the nature ofwar. I think there's enough to chew on, for a while.
Thank you Hans for giving us all the opportunity to vent ourfrustrations.

***MORE ON-LINE HELP FOR KOSOV0***
To help people who may have been separated in the Kosovo crisis, a free Web site has been set up where refugees and their friends and relatives can leave their details and search the database for others from Kosovo. While Net access is likely to be scarce within the refugee camps, it still seems like a worthy idea. The site's located at:

KOSOVA help

The war in Yugoslavia is now going on for a month. After several discussions with people world wide, and feeling so helpless in seeing all the suffer I thought about making a bit more serious work of my web site around Kosova.
As in my style I will very unregurarily add some comments to this page.
Todays' consideration.

The countries than join the bombings in Yugoslavia and Kosova pay millions of dollars per day for having the planes in the air. One our of only flying a starfighter costs already $ 1,000. The bombs cost at least 10 times as much per piece.

Consequence of all the bombings, that we pay the taxes for and that the government is likely to pay to kill, is the immense human suffer. The refugees from Kosova, who have lost their home and country, but also the innocent civilians of Yugoslavia. Hundred of thousands are now without work and money because the factories and companies they worked in are bombed down. The farmers are not able to make their land ready for seeding, so soon there will be an extension in human suffering from innocent people.
We all know the pictures, we all know the actions that are done to help the people, with food, clothes and money collecting.
In what world are we living? We pay the government to make a war, to kill people and we do collect money again to get the suffering people a bit more happy.
How much should it cost to leave them just happy as they were before? What could have done with that much money?

April 20th.
After 4 weeks of war.

A drawing from a kid, who escaped the hell of Kosova and is in Albania now.
Do you think he is lucky? I doubt it.

April 12th.

Here is a site that tells about the cruel rulers of the world. Showing that it is not just happening in our time, but it does through the years.

In the mail lists there is a discussion going on around the subject of the war in former Yugoslavia. In Yugoslavia President Milosevic is coming under pressure to stop his torturing of many people.

The world had a long time in talking with him, but, at the end of March, the NATO countries started to bomb Yugoslavia.

What happened after that is undescribable. So many people are hurt and while I am writing this (what is 3 weeks after the first bombings) there are thousands of people whose house are and villages are burnt down, whos family is lost and who have to fly away out of their country.

Apart from the discussion of war is a good solution to a problem, I think that it is very important that we do 2 things. One is, give everyone space to talk and say what he or see is wanting to say. So, no torture, no threads, just the freedom to speach.

Secondly everyone should accept eachother and live in respect.

And what we from far away can do is help thos people that have lost their family and country. Imagine for a second how it should feel, being left with only yourself for the night. No blankets, no food, not even a place for be private for a second. Totally dependend of the goodwill and aid that others might give.

A mail to all my friends

Subject: Help B92

Dear Friends

Sorry if some of you get this message twice, but I like to send it to as many friends that I know.
You are all aware of the war in Yugoslavia, where the Servians are terrorizing the Albanian, Kosova and all.
Apart from the terrible fact that a war will never have winners, and that it is so sad that so many victims will fall, there is one thing that I should like to let you know.

In war policy one of the first loosers is the freedom of speech.
The same there.
The independend radio station, B92, is out the air.
Luckily, thanks to internet, there is a chance to listen to their messages still.
There is a dutch initiative to support the radio station.
Please, do me a favor, and link one moment to
http://helpB92.xs4all.nl
When you press the button live B92 you can hear the sound of the radio station. That is, if you have real audio..

The direct link is
http://www.B92
Thanks for listening, sorry for the rushing and messing message, it is just that I am in a hurry, but this one I could not leave.

All the best to all of you, and let's all pray and hope that the war will soon be finished..

Thanks
