Control horns
Turning 1/8" aluminum plate into elevator/rudder and aileron control horns.
I cut the control horns out using a hacksaw and jigsaw. I then took the parts to my good friend Steve in Geary, OK. Steve has a nice shop with all kinds of cool tools.

I then traced the pattern on the aluminum again, marked the 3/16 bolt holes with a punch, clamped the two pieces together and drilled the holes.

We then bolted them together, and shaped them on a big belt sander with 80 grit paper. After the shaping was done we drilled the holes for the weight reduction, and buffed them out.

First, get some aluminum..

Trace around your pattern and cut out. ( scissors will not work here.. a hacksaw and jigsaw will do )

With a little elbow grease..this is what you'll end up with! These are the first airplane parts that I've made.
