Welcome to our Home page! We'd like for you to learn a little about the Ozark Dillards and the area we live in. These Arkansas Ozarks are a wonderful place to live and raise children. Be sure to use our underlined links to navigate between pages.
Our story starts with the woman you see in the photograph at left. Her name was Mary Magdalene Tate Dillard. She had 8 children- Julia C., Josephine, Elmira, Margaret Salina, John P., Harriet, James Franklin, and William. Very little is known of her history and this is the only known photograph of her.
Mary's son James Franklin "Doc" made his home in the Arkansas Ozarks just a few miles from the Buffalo River. His last known residence was built where the Dillard House Bed and Breakfast now stands. By all accounts, Doc was a generous man, inviting all who came by to sit down for a meal and he didn't usually take no for an answer. He and his wife raised 12 children and their descendants are scattered across the United States.
Every two years, a reunion is held, bringing together well over 200 relatives from across the U.S. to enjoy good food, music, stories and most of all to make new aquaintances and renew old ones.
The site of the reunion is about 13 1/2 miles south of Yellville, Arkansas and just a short distance from the Buffalo River- now the Buffalo National River.
