Region 5 -- Bicol Region. Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Masbate, and Sorsogon are the 6 provinces of the region. It is sourrounded mainly by waters. To its south is the Asian Gulf; to its east, the Pacific Ocean; to its west, the Sibuyan Sea and Quezon; and to its north, Look ng Lamon.

    Some parts of the region are mountainous and hilly. The plains where farmers plant are fertile. This is due to the past eruptions of Mayon Volcano. Because of the region's location, it is often visited by rains.

    The primary product of the region is abaca. This is  why it is called the 'Abaca Region.' Some products made out of abaca are ropes, bags, slippers, fans, baskets, and alpombra. The farmers also plant palay, coconut, banana, etc. Cattle-raising is also apt for the fertile land. From the forests in the mountains, yantok, nito, tambo, almasiga, resin, and balat ng kahoy can be gotten. Fishing is also an industry in the region.

   The Bicol region is known for its spicy delicasies -- the Bicol express is the most popular of them all. For those who like hot food, well, you would definitely enjoy this.
