Winx Club: Cut It Out!
A guide to edits made by 4Kids to Winx Club
The First Charmix
The Winx head to the slopes.
Removal: A flashback to the scene involving FG giving a few pixies some jewelry, originally from ep 7, was cut. By the time ep 26, where the significance of the jewelry is revealed, rolls around, most of the target audience would have forgotten about the jewelry, without this flashback.
Rewrite: Palladium is first hesistant about letting Livy going back to the Pixie Village, but thinks that Lord Darkar would be monitoring the Winx and thus lets her go. In the 4K version, Palladium stops Livy so that she knows what antidote he needs.
Trouble in Paradise
The Trix cause trouble at the Winx's beach vacation.
Rewrite: Having taken up Stella's suggestion the other day about holding a fashion show, Bloom is surprised to hear that she herself won't be participating (she's looking for Layla, and she later offers her a part in the show when she finds her). In the 4K version, Bloom is surprised that Stella doesn't want to do a makeover on Tecna.
Rewrite: The issue that gets Musa her Charmix in the original is trusting Riven. In the dub, it's admitting to liking Riven.
Removal: Originally, the Charmix transformations were also accompanied with the regular transformations first. 4Kids cuts straight from casual outfit to Charmix transform.
Last Resorts
More of the beach vacation.
Removal: A short shot of Darcy at the start has been snipped. Then, Timmy comes up with an idea involving the invisible nets from the previous ep. Originally, in between the two, Tecna says to Digit, "Based on past performances, what are the chances of that being true?" followed with Brandon defending Timmy ("Hey, when Timmy's got tactics, the Specialists listen"). The 4K version only shows Tecna's expression, and Timmy's explanation of the plan is now one continuous line instead of two separate lines in the original.
Rewrite: Originally, the Trix are supposed to attack Timmy and Sky all at once. In the 4K version, they taunt the two Specialists to pick one of their attacks, only putting the "all at once" option at the end. Both this and the above edit are in this video.
Rewrite: Originally, Tecna praises Timmy over the plan he made, and just loves him for this. In the 4K version, she says, "I've been mad at you 'cause you wouldn't make the first move... but really it's just me being scared of stepping up myself and telling you how much I absolutely adore you."

Darkness and Light
Avalon turns out to be an impostor.
Rewrite: The Winx have passed the Griz's exam. Originally, the Griz commends them on their improvement. In the 4K version, she's telling what their next exam will be like.
Visual edit: Stella: "Professor Avalon, you're here? You changed outfits again?" Not in the original he didn't: The real Avalon wears the same white shirt as the impostor, but in the 4Kids dub, he's wearing a purple one instead. (The Avalon paintjob)

Desperately Seeking Bloom
Sky and Brandon head to Downland again.
Rewrite: The RF ship is parked at Alfea. Originally, Timmy is giving the ship a tune-up for this mission, so it's in tiptop shape. In the 4K version, Timmy is making adjustments to the ship so that its power doesn't drain in Shadowhaunt... and this ends up being the only time the issues from the mission from earlier in the season are addressed.
Rewrite: The RF ship has crashed. Without any real explanation in either version, Flora has planted some vines to prevent an ice ball from crushing them, instead of just having Stella melt the ice. Speaking of Stella, she wants to use her Charmix. Originally, Timmy points out the vines around the ship as why she shouldn't. In the 4K version, Timmy says he and Tec are coming up with their own plan and he insists that it'll work.
Storming Shadowhaunt
Everyone fights Darkar and co. in Shadowhaunt.
Removal: The 5-way Charmix transformation is pared down.
Not an edit: For some reason, the whole power drainage from earlier in the season is just not an issue in this episode and the next in either version.

The Ultimate Power Couple
Darkar takes the fight into Realix.
Rewrite: Originally, the elder pixies talk of the jewels they got in episode 7 as being copies. In the dub, they talk of them as ancient artifacts.
Removal / Visual Edit: Musa and Flora attack a few monsters, and Musa wonders if the others will be able to find them. Tune mentions the noise they're making, and there's a close-up of Flora saying that she's gotten real good at passing messages to Helia. The close-up of Flora is removed. Later, the Specs have found Tecna. Originally, Tecna and Timmy say in unison they're going to track the others. Helia says there's no need, making Tecna go "Huh?", and then points to a paper crane, which flies off for the Specs to follow. In the 4K version, Timmy and Tecna both say in unison to move out. Helia teases them about saying the same thing at the same time all the time, making both of them go "Huh?" before cutting to the next scene (after all, Helia's comment wouldn't make sense if just Tecna had wondered "Huh?"). (Tecna and Timmy, and the paper crane)
Rewrite: The Codex Cipher is a bunch of colored cards. Originally, Layla is frustrated at the puzzle and starts to consider who she might use. Stella just says, "Are these colors off or what?" before deciding to rearrange the pieces around and then just happening on the solution. In the 4K version, Stella brings up a field trip to a museum she took and uses her knowledge of a civilization that communicated with hues to solve the puzzle.
Visual edit: Sky collapses in front of Bloom. Dark Bloom is sneering in the original, while she isn't in the dub. (Sneer)
Removal: A key part why Bloom breaks free of Darkar's grip in Realix is a brief flashback to the final scene of season 1. This has been removed. Also removed is a brief shot of Darkar starting to enjoy the sweet taste of the power crystal Bloom has summoned. (Both versions do have a reference to "Reaching for the Sky", though.)
Visual edit: Faragonda and Griffin toast at another end of year party. Their drinks have been re-colored. It's most obvious in this picture. (Other pictures)
Removal: The photo shoot (4K version: for the yearbook). Originally, there were three photos: Bloom and Sky running into frame, then Sky popping his head in from the left and Glim (a pixie) from the right, followed by a flash from the camera, having Glim go blind by it, and lastly Bloom pulling in Lucy and Mirta for a photo with all of them. Only the first was shown by 4Kids. Here are the other two: Sky pops his head in, Bloom drags Mirta in.
