Ryan's Hope
Premiere Date: July 7, 1975

THE STORYLINE

The title of ABC's new serial, Ryan's Hope, is important, because it signifies the common bond which binds all characters; determination, energy and independence.
The main story line will revolve around three families residing in the Manhattan suburb, Riverside. The first is Johnny and Maeve Ryan and their five children. Johnny is a high school dropout, who owns an operates a bar. he is a proud mane with strict, traditional values. The second family is made up of Dr. Ed Coleridge, a widower who has done his best to raise his two children, Faith and Roger. Finally, Seneca and Nell Beaulac, newcomers to the community will be featured.

As Daylight TV when to press (June 5), the following six characters had been tentatively cast:

Ryan's Hope is ABC-TV's first new entry into the daytime field, since 1970, when All My Children, A world Apart and The best of Everything debuted.

On June 19, the shows first day of taping, the new cast and crew gathered at a New York dock on the Hudson River for some on-location shooting,

At press time, only five roles had been cast.

ILENE KRISTIN (Delia Reid Ryan) is a terrifically talented young actress-singer-dancer. If she looks familiar, you might have seen her in the Broadway productions of Grease and Henry Sweet Henry. She has also appeared in several TV commercials, promoting products ranging from Jergens the Brylcream to TWA. Ryan's Hope marks Ilene's debut in daytime TV.

EARL HINDMAN    (Bob Reid) previously had a small part on Search for Tomorrow, but Ryan's Hope is his first starring role. Earl has spent much time touring with various repertory stage companies, including the New Jersey Shakespeare Festival and Baltimore Center Stage. He also starred in the national company of The Great White Hope. His television credits include You Are There and The Lewis and Clark Expedition (playing Lewis).

Ron Hale Ron Hale previously play Walt Driscoll on Search and Dr. Abbott on Splendored Thing. After a two year absence, he ways he's happy to back on daytime TV.

RON HALE (Roger Coleridge) has had extensive experience doing stock, college and regional theater, appearing in such classic productions as Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Prometheus Bound and Death of a Salesman. His file experience includes roles in A Lovely Way to Die and Me, Natalie. And this talented actor has been seen on TV in N.Y.P.D. and Search for Tomorrow. This past March, Ron starred in the New York stage production, Four Friends.

KATHERINE MULGREW is making her daytime debut. The young actress studies at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. She has appeared in several off-Broadway productions an din regional theater in Canada, Chicago and Wyoming.
Michael Fairman Michael Fairman is no stranger to the serials. He portrayed Love of Life's Phil Waterman for a year. He has also been seen in many-off Broadway productions.

MICHAEL HAWKINS is a fine actor, previously seen on daytime TV as Mark Eliot (L.I.A.M.S.T.) and briefly as Larry Kirby on H.T.S.A.M.
