THE VOTES ARE IN--

Ryan's Hope is a Winner!

When Frank Ryan won the November 4th election for New York City Councilman, we wasn't the only one to come out a winner. Ryan's Hope had another reason to celebrate: its one hundredth performance. The cast and crew gathered in the rehearsal room of the ABC studio on 53rd Street in Manhattan to whoop it up. Just about everyone was there except Michael Hawkins, alias Frank Ryan, who may have been out counting late returns.

With wine and cheese to fuel the revelers, the afternoon party did justice to the exuberant Irish flair for life the Ryan's Hope is patterened on.

Just like a hopeful political candidate, a new soap sometimes faces an uncertain future. So passing a milestone perhaps meant more to Ryan's Hopers than it might have to a show that's been on the air form ten years.

Just like a campaign victory party, congratulations, handshakes and an occasional kiss were the order of the day.

Frank Ryan many not be able to save New York from it's bleak bankrupt future, but his victore and the show's one hundredth performance may promise a rich health future for Ryan's Hope.
