DEEPAVALI REPORT

DEEPAVALI CELEBRATION AT PUTTAPARTHI

Bhagawan granted Darshan around 7 a.m. The Sai Kulwant Hall was filled to the brim with devotees from far & wide. The Institute students were ready with a musical presentation. They presented a few group songs followed by few solo songs filling all with joy and Bliss. Bhagawan blessed the boys and bestowed gifts on the lead performers. Bhajans were continued. Bhagawan directed the distribution of Prasadam to all assembled. Prof. Anil Kumar's announcement about Divine Discourse in the afternoon was responded with resounding applause.

I comforted her and said, "Why are you disturbed so much over such a small matter? It will be done. But for everything the time must be ripe. A new-born child cannot become a youth all at once; some time is required. Do not worry so much; in due course of time, Swami will fulfil your desire. Try to comfort those who are suffering and pray for their well-being." Easwaramma was a little upset thinking that Swami was unconcerned and indifferent. But I had this Sankalpa all the time. Mother's wish had to be fulfilled, be it small or big. Any task to help others is My responsibility and so I resolved to undertake this task.

The afternoon public meeting started around 3 p.m. with the vedic recitation by few students in the Divine presence. Dr.N.Sainath introduced the speaker Sri.G.V.Subba Rao, former head of Energy Division at UN.

Sri G.V.Subba Rao spoke about the aspects of Light & Divinity. He narrated incidents that cleared the doubts of vedic scholars about the Divinity of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. He reminded everyone of the descent of Divinity for the eradication of evil. The learned speaker mentioned that respect for women was necessary for the society to be great & good. Citing the example of Duryodhana and Ravana, he emphasized that those who disregarded women later met with evil consequences.

Dr.G.Venkatraman spoke about the aspects of Light & Victory with respect to the festival of Deepavali. He quoted the last stanza of Bhagawat Gita to stress the point - victory is where Lord Krishna & Arjuna were present. 'Now having Lord amongst us we should try to become Arjuna so that victory is ours', he said.

Bhagawan blessed the gathering with His Divine Message. Swami ended with the Bhajan `Hari Bhajan Bina Sukha Santhi Nahi`. Students sang a few more bhajans, after which Bhagawan took Aarti to mark the end of the programme.

The night sky of Parthi was lit with splendrous lights of fire crackers from all directions.
