Halsey Herreshoff

The T-30 Designer

Halsey Herreshoff comes from an impressive ancestry of yachtsman and yacht designers. Mr. Herreshoff is the grandson of Capt. Nat Herreshoff (1848-1938) the famous yacht designer, engineer and Americas Cup defender. Following in the family tradition, Halsey has himself gained notoriety as a prolific yacht designer and yachtsman. He has four times successfully defended the Americas Cup. Some of his more famous designs include the Freedom 40 and his noted line of Herreshoff cat ketches. Mr. Herreshoff is a Sailing World Hall of Fame Winner and is also the curator of the America's Cup Hall of Fame in the Herreshoff Marine Museum located in Rode Island.

This yachting legend was chosen by the Chrysler Corp. Marine Division to design its cruising line of sailboats. He was the designer of the Chrysler 22, Chrysler 26 and the Chrysler CY-30 (Ticon-30) yachts.
