Intructions  to  Make Your Screen   Display the Cyrillic or Russian Alphabeth
In order to verify that your computer is displaying the real Russian alphabeth check if the letters of the word in red at the bottom of the bleu picture are identical to those of the word typed just below it.

To make your screen display the correct Russian letters do the following:
  1. Go to Control Panel
    either via My Computer icon on your desktop or via the Start button, then Settings, then Control Panel
  2. In Control Panel click on Add/Remove Program,
    then click on the Windows Setup tab, from there scroll down to Multi Language Support and place a check mark in its box.
  3. The program then will ask you to insert your Windows 95 or Windows 98 CDRom disk.
    Follow the instructions. You will be asked to restart (reboot) your computer or the progam will do it for you.
  4. After your computer has restarted, connect to the internet and you should be able to see the correct Russian text.

IF for some reason this does to make your screen display the real cyrillic. Try this in addition in the window of your Netscape browser:

  1. Click on View then Character Set (or "endoding" in some versions)
  2. Then choose end click on Cyrillic (windows-1251) --- (You may want to try some other cyrillic settings from the same menu, like: KOI8-R, ISO-8859-5, CP886, etc. ... Usually this will do.)

For Internet Exploreer users; use the same procedure but click first on View --> Encoding --> more, from there select a cyrillic type.
