Music has always been a big inspiration for me, the feel of the melodies and harmonies have really helped me find a focus at times when I've been sitting at a keyboard wondering what now...
Some stories have been directly influenced by songs or albums, Addiction in White was wrote after listening to Mariyn Manson's Mechanical Animals CD for the first time.  Other times I've been stuck for a story title and the title of a favourite song has come to mind, for example 'Dreamstate' was very nearly going to be called 'Remembrances of a Dead Future' until I put on Bruce Dickinson's Skunkworks CD and I scanned down the tracklisting and saw the song Dreamstate and the two just collided instantly.
I do like heavy metal/hard rock songs as they have a certain energy to them that I feel represents action stories very well, while more poppy songs such as those Roxette or Genesis suit the more introspective and meloncholy stories.  And the MASH/Who crossover story just has to have the Manic's cover of Suicide is Painless playing on constant loop when you read it, because it was like that when I wrote it ;)
