Upon the distant planet of Jurapitus, where the red tangalrans grow and the seas
glitter like frosted glass lives the Humblebungle. They say this mysterious creature
is tall of frame with strange lightly coloured skin and a smile that is all teeth. The
Humblebungle eats babies and wears a thin shirt or cloak wrapped many times around his neck.
In the small blue cave he lives with his strange servant of blue shining.
In the great fields of purple Mangonas he walks with his servant on a leash and
he is often heard to make strange sounds with his mouth of teeth. The Humblebungle
is said to be curious and will talk of many strange things to an unwary Jumijim. It
is said that he speaks of other worlds, which is blatantly untrue for the Humblebungle is a known speaker of many untruths.
One time a Jumijim talked to the Humblebungle about many things and the Humblebungle
tried to make him eat babies too. The Humblebungle took no offence when the Jumijim
declined and instead offered him a minty stone, which could be eaten.
The Humblebungle promised the curious Jumijim many things, including a visit
to new worlds much different to Jurapitus. The Jumijim was scared but the Humblebungle
produced strange things from his pockets that were not of Jumijim knowing. The
blue shining servant spoke too; it tried to confirm the Humblebungle’s lies.
The Jumijim was angry and afraid. He
tried to prove the Humblebungle’s words false and was lured inside the small blue cave, which was much bigger inside
than out. The Jumijim was afraid and tried to leave but the cave mouth had vanished
and strange sounds could be heard within the cave itself. The Humblebungle laughed
when I said his name and said strange things to me about a girl called Laelar whom he once liked and another girl called Jaimae
whom he had banished deeper inside the cave.
When the cave door mysteriously opened again the Jumijim emerged outside to find
that Jurapitus was gone and in its place was a strange world of hard stone and tall stone trees with shiny fronts. The Humblebungle claimed that the tallest ones could touch the sky and the Jumijim knew his words not false.
Then Jaimae the Humblebungle’s strange girl child, the Jumijim thought,
came out to join the Humblebungle and the Jumijim and she also spoke of the tall stone trees and said there was nothing to
fear here but moving shiny demons called Caaz. These Caaz had big shining eyes
that glowed bright when the darkness came upon us. The Humblebungle tried to
explain about bartreies but the Jumijim knew he was speaking untruth once more.
At last we returned to the small blue cave and found it once again big inside. The Humblebungle tapped a big stone with his fingers and the cave opening vanished. There was a long delay in which the Humblebungle and his girl child spoke of many
strange things including rubbing two pieces of Jattayat tree together to make them burn.
Soon enough though the cave opened up once more and the Jumijim left the small blue cave that was big inside and found
himself home on Jurapitus.
Long time after the Humblebungle left the Jumijim thought upon the strange creature’s
words and realised that the movement of certain bright lights in the sky were wandering.
He realised that these were other worlds and the Jumijim wondered if one of these was where the Humblebungle now lived
in his small blue cave that was bigger inside with his girl child Jaimae and his small blue shiny servant.
