The flashlight
hardly illuminated any of the ground in front of her feet, but somehow she managed to make her way along the crunchy gravel
path up towards the old haunted house.
The wind picked
up and rustled the hedges, however the sound of shaking leaves continued past the brief current of moving air.
She listened
carefully, it almost seemed as if someone was following her. Was there someone behind her, stepping when she stepped? She
fought the urge to look over her shoulder and carried on along the hardly visible path.
An owl hooted
and it nearly gave her a start, in fact it almost gave her a stop due to the shock. Carefully she readjusted her straw boater
hat before continuing on. She didn't want any of her long, blonde, hair to get into her eyes.
Finally she
reached the old weather beaten oak door and she tapped on it once, twice, three times. "Hello, is there anybody there?" The
door creaked open slowly and in need of some oil. "Excuse me, I'm lost. Have you seen a..." Her words were cut off by the
sight of blood on the large rug in front of the door. "Oh my. That could leave a nasty stain."
"Can I help
you miss?" A butler appeared beside the young woman, a silver tray in one hand and a large blood splattered axe in the other
hand.
She looked
at the extremely pale servant and the axe. "Ah yes, my vehicle broke down and my friend went to find help. He's been gone
for hours, you haven't seen him have you? He's taller than me, with a long, long, long scarf. He answers to Doctor, he has
a fondness for jelly babies."
"I'm sorry
miss, no one has disturbed this house for a century."
Romana whistled.
"You need to get out more, look at me, one hundred and twenty eight and I've been to social events than you've brutally murdered
young innocent girls."
The butler
tried to swing the axe at the Time Lady but Romana blocked the clumsy lunge easily and returned the attack with a stinging
right hook.
"Owww! I think
you've broken a nail." She sucked on her injured digit and ducked under another attack. "Will you stop that? I'm beginning
to think you don't want to be my friend."
The undead
minion tried one more attack but the blonde girl disarmed him and then she cut his arm off.
"I'm really
starting to think you're a bit of a prig, you haven't even offered me any tea yet. Two lumps, no sugar." She struggled as
he used his one remaining arm to try and reclaim his weapon so she cut one of his legs off above the knee in return. "If you
don't have any teabags you only have to say, I'm not like her you know."
The butler
fell to the floor, defeated and exploded into a billion, billion motes of soot and ash.
"I guess he
doesn't like washing up either." Romana let the axe fall to the floor before hopping around in pain for ages after the handle
fell on her toes.
"There you
are Romana, what are you doing here?" The Doctor offered his best friend a jelly baby and she accepted. "Lets get back to
the ship hmmm? I don't know why you couldn't wait there for me anyway."
Romana explained
everything to her best friend as she limped painfully back to the waiting comfy sofa room inside the TARDIS.
