It was the dawn of the third age of mankind, three years after the Earth/Minbar war. The Babylon Station was the focal centre of diplomacy to prevent another war because of misunderstandings.
The year is 2248, and the station is almost complete. However two alien visitors from a little visited planet have just arrived
on the station, to walk their dog.
"Well I like
it." Romana made her mind up again.
"I thought
you weren't liking it before you saw that statue."
"Yes, well
that was before I saw that statue. Now I like this place."
"Because of
that statue?"
"Yes, it was
a very good statue. Who was it again?"
"John Fitzgerald
Kennedy, a visionary for his time. He said something about taking a trip to the moon and only six years later mankind visited
the moon."
"To buy souviners?"
Romana asked.
"No, they
hadn't built the tourist centre at that time."
"Were they
going to sell time share then?"
"No, although
Jamie and Zoe and I had to hide behind a crater until they'd gone. We didn't want to spoil it for them. You know how irritable
people can get like that."
Romana looked
at the Doctor. "Like you did when I opened that packet of jelly babies?"
"Yes, exactly.
Anyway, we should be getting back to the TARDIS."
"Do we have
to leave now Doctor? Can't we take a few photographs of K-9 and us by that statue?"
The Doctor
paused. "Well there's no harm in taking one photograph I suppose. We'll stop someone and get them to take the picture."
Exactly an hour later the Babylon Station exploded
when it's superstructure collapsed due to a large terrorist conspiracy. However the death toll didn't take into account the
maintenance worker who followed to mysterious people into a blue box after taking their picture with the Kennedy statue. He
now lives on
Babylon 5, along with his pet cat and a slightly melted and battered statue...
